This week we learned about tip-of-the-tongue (TOT) experiences and how they provide evidence for Levelt’s feedforward model and Dell’s interactive model.

Part 1: Watch the following video and write about how it demonstrates a TOT experience:

Things to consider:

1. What other lemmas (words) were interfering with his selection?

2. Was he close to the sound of the word at all beginning of the video? Do you think he had the sound (i.e., phonological encoding) of the word fully activated? Why or why not?

3. Do you think the meaning of the word (i.e., semantic representation) was activated?
